Steven Gerrard rubbishes rumours of 30-year-old Liverpool star joining Rangers this January

Adam Lallana of Liverpool

Former Liverpool captain and current Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has dismissed rumours of a move for Adam Lallana.

The English midfielder has struggled for fitness and game time this season under Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool Echo claims the 30-year-old has been tipped to move away from Anfield.

The former Liverpool captain played alongside Lallana before he left for the US but has done a great job as the manager of the Scottish side.

Gerrard has raided Liverpool before with Ryan Kent doing well for the Gers. He recently signed experienced duo Jermain Defoe and Steven Davies as he looks to beat Celtic to the Scottish Premiership.

The Anfield legend was asked about potential moves for Ravel Morrison and Lallana. However, he answered claiming there wasn’t any truth in the rumours (h/t Liverpool Echo

):

“There’s no truth in either”.

Lallana needs to play games regularly and is one of the most technically gifted players in England but his fitness has been a major problem for us.

The Englishman’s troubles have been on from last season. In fact, he has just three starts to his name in all competitions this term.

The 30-year-old can play in several positions, having been utilized on the left, down the middle and on the right side of the attack.

It would be a surprise if we let Lallana go without getting a replacement. Liverpool were dealt a bit of a problem with injuries to several defenders and our decision to loan Nathaniel Clyne could prove to be costly in the coming months.
