Liverpool handed Manchester City the initiative in the Premier League title race. The Reds were held to a 0-0 draw to the delight of the Everton fans at Goodison Park.
Mohamed Salah had two glorious chances to score but squandered them while Fabinho had a chance in the second half but some resolute defending from Everton kept them in the game.
The Blues tried their best to break down the Liverpool defence, but they faced a colossal Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman seemed to be everywhere and barely gave a whiff to the Everton attackers.
The draw was a disappointing result given that so much rode in the game. We needed to win to keep City behind us, but now the Premier League title race is in City’s hands.
All they have to do is keep winning and it is all over for us. Liverpool didn’t do enough in the final third but Van Dijk was phenomenal at the back.
The former Southampton defender was easily the best player on the park, and had it not been for him we would have come out with a loss.
The attack fluffed their lines, the midfield did too but Van Dijk was excellent alongside Joel Matip, and that was the silver lining for some fans from this game.
