Sky Sports confirmed that Guinea midfielder Naby Keita will not face Bayern Munich in the second leg of Liverpool’s Champions League round of 16 tie.
The report claims that Keita is carrying a minor injury and did not travel with the side to Germany.
The 24-year-old has had a stop-start season so far with Liverpool. The midfielder has played some quality games, however, he hasn’t started too many ties in recent weeks.
Keita only has one assist to his name all season and was a sub in the wins over Watford and Burnley.
The Reds aren’t firing on all cylinders but need to get an away goal against the Bavarians. The first leg ended 0-0 and facing Bayern at the Allianz Arena will not be an easy task.
The Germans are in great form having toppled Borussia Dortmund from the Bundesliga table. They also scored six goals in their last game while the Reds ran out 4-2 winners at the weekend.
Keita could have started against the Bavarians as we need to get a goal, and the 24-year-old played the reverse fixture a few weeks ago.
The Guinea midfielder faced the Bavarians during his time with RB Leipzig, and several fans weren’t happy that Jurgen Klopp’s options were reduced for the midfield.
