Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez recently reacted to the rumours of him possibly joinin Liverpool.
The 22-year-old forward has bagged 13 goals and five assists for the La Liga side this season and plays mostly at the tip of the attack.
The Uruguayan hitman has scored 30 goals for Vigo in 73 games in the last two seasons and told Marca that he was “comfortable” at his current club.
The 22-year-old also dropped another big club who are being linked with him (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“There are many comments through social networks, what if I sign for Barcelona, if I go to Liverpool…I am very calm and in Vigo I feel very comfortable.”
Liverpool already have Roberto Firmino as the central striker starring since Jurgen Klopp took over.
The Brazilian has been ever present in the side and puts in a great shift in all games.
Firmino might not have a great scoring record but his intelligence and movement off the ball provide more opportunities for our wingers to score.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have thrived in the last two seasons, and it is to be seen if a forward like Gomez could do a similar role for us.
Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi don’t have the same impact in the team as Firmino, and some Liverpool fans were convinced that Gomez should be signed by the Reds.
