Liverpool had scouts watching three Lyon players in the 3-0 win over Marseille, according to Mercato365 (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The report claims that the Reds were tracking midfield dynamo Tanguy Ndombele and attacking pair Houssem Aouar and Memphis Depay.
Surprisingly, Liverpool were not looking at Nabil Fekir. The Frenchman was linked with the Reds at the start of this season, but a deal could not be finalised (h/t Liverpool Echo).
None of the trio found the back of the net in the win over Marseille, and Lyon are in a great position to finish in the Champions League spots.
They lie four points ahead of fourth-placed St. Etienne with a couple of league games left in the season.
Jurgen Klopp spent big in the previous summer window as we upgraded our midfield and goalkeeping departments with some big signings.
However, the Reds have a pretty formidable side currently and it will be interesting to see who Klopp moves for once the season is over.
Ndombele could add more steel to the midfield but we have Fabinho doing a great job for us currently.
Aouar and Depay can play in wide positions or as attacking midfielders. However, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has returned from a long-term injury and could play in that role next season.
Transfers can take a bit of a backseat now as the Reds face Tottenham in the Champions League final on June 1.
