Liverpool confirmed that Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno would be leaving the club as their contracts have expired.
The 29-year-old has his role to play in our season with important strikes against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Englishman scored three goals in all competitions for the Reds and posted a long message thanking several people at the club, including Jurgen Klopp, the owners and former manager Brendan Rodgers.
The forward will be remembered for his great partnership with Luis Suarez during the 2013-14 season under Brendan Rodgers, where we almost won the title.
The 29-year-old is still one of the best finishers in the game but his style never really matched that of Klopp’s high-pressure football.
Roberto Firmino has been excellent in that role under the German while Divock Origi moved ahead of Sturridge in the pecking order this season.
It is a little disappointing to see Sturridge leave without actually starring under the German, and hopefully, he finds the right club in the summer.
The 29-year-old will also be remembered for his trademark “Sturridge” dance celebration after scoring a goal too.
Many Liverpool fans reacted emotionally to the Englishman’s exit from the club, and here are some of the messages from Twitter.
