Scotland captain Andy Robertson missed his side’s important Euro 2020 qualifier against Belgium. The Liverpool star had scored in the previous qualifier but saw his team lose 3-0 to the more talented Belgian squad.
Sky Sports claims that the left-back suffered a hamstring problem and manager Steve Clarke claimed Robbo tried everything to get fit for the clash (h/t Sky Sports
):“He tried everything he could [to be ready for today], he did the training session last night, but he woke up and still felt it so no good. And it is a great chance for Greg Taylor.”
The loss would come as a big blow to Scotland’s hopes of reaching Euro 2020. The Scots sit fourth in their group, with Belgium leading the table.
Robertson isn’t the only player to pick up an injury while representing his country. Xherdan Shaqiri also suffered a problem in England’s Nations League win over Switzerland recently.
Naby Keita is returning from an injury but has been included in Guinea’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The midfielder was not fit enough to be in the Champions League squad but seems set to feature in the summer tournament.
Several Liverpool stars will be away on international duty for the AFCON and Copa America, and hopefully, they all return without any issues for the start of the next season.
