Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Calciomercato) reports that AC Milan are interested in Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren.
The report is about Milan’s new sports director Frederic Massara speaking with Paolo Maldini and the Serie A giants are set to move for players.
The 29-year-old Lovren was shunted down the pecking order due to the form of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez this season.
The Croatian centre-back only started 11 Premier League games this season and suffered several injury-related issues. Lovren joined Liverpool from Southampton and has had his ups and downs since becoming a Red.
The report adds that Milan are evaluating the possible transfer and how much it could cost them.
Lovren had a wonderful World Cup with Croatia last season as they reached the final and also lifted the Champions League trophy with the Reds.
Gomez and Matip did an excellent job alongside Virgil van Dijk in the previous season, and it will be interesting to see what we do with Lovren.
The Croatian might not get as many starts as last season but his experience is important for Jurgen Klopp’s team. However, Lovren is already 29 and we might not be able to get a great sum from his sale if we wait until next season.
The Reds have young defenders Nat Phillips and Ki-Jana Hoever coming through the ranks, and the pair could get some minutes for the first-team next season.
