Times journalist Paul Joyce has claimed that Liverpool could sell Dejan Lovren for £25m.
The 29-year-old centre-back lost his starting place in the Liverpool team this season after seeing Joe Gomez and Joel Matip rise up the pecking order.
The Croatian also suffered a few injuries last time around, and Joyce tweeted that AC Milan’s sporting director is interested in him but they haven’t made contact with the Reds.
The Croatian was a key member in the side a couple of seasons ago and the addition of Virgil van Dijk has made our defence nearly impenetrable.
The former Southampton star didn’t start many games, though he did have some quality displays for Liverpool.
Getting £25m for a player who is 29 isn’t a bad deal, especially given the Matip and Gomez’s form last season.
Gomez was the first-choice partner for Van Dijk at the start of the season before Matip took over due to the Englishman’s injury.
The pair was excellent alongside Van Dijk when called upon, and it will be an interesting summer regarding our transfers. Liverpool can promote one of their younger defenders to the first-team should they sell Lovren.
However, the Croatian’s Premier League experience is extremely important to the team, and he can do a good job in a one-off game.
