The Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool’s stars will return in a staggered manner from 6th July ahead of the new season.
Our first pre-season fixture is against Tranmere on 11th July, and the report claims that players involved in post-season international games will be given additional time off.
The same applies to our African and South American contingent away for the Africa Cup of Nations and the Copa America.
The report adds that Virgil van Dijk, Georginio Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold will also be missing this weekend.
Naby Keita is also expected to miss out this weekend, as Guinea could feature in the knockout rounds of the AFCON.
The report adds that the lack of first-team players will allow some of our younger players to shine in pre-season.
After the Tranmere friendly, the Reds face Bradford City three days later. Liverpool then fly to North America, where they are up against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon.
Napoli and Lyon are the next two opponents for the Reds, and our final game before the Premier League season is the Community Cup clash against Manchester City.
The Reds have several competitions to target in the upcoming campaign, and there should be more silverware coming to Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.
