Liverpool eager to end long wait for a league title

Liverpool will enter the 2019/20 Premier League season desperate to end their long wait to win a domestic title.

The Reds came extremely close last term, finishing just one point behind Manchester City after an epic battle between the two sides.

Jurgen Klopp’s team did end the campaign on a high note, winning the Champions League with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Read on as we assess their chances of success next season.

Liverpool must keep evolving

Klopp has certainly improved Liverpool’s squad over the past few years, but he must make sure he continues to add quality.

City are unlikely to rest on their laurels and it is imperative that Liverpool match the ambition shown by their main title rivals this summer.

Netherlands Under-19 defender Sepp Van Den Berg has arrived from PEC Zwolle, although he is not expected to be ready for the first team just yet.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele and he is the type of player who could have a major impact on the club’s fortunes next season.

Klopp may regret missed opportunity

One of the most popular in 2019/20 will be the outright Premier League market and there will be plenty of punters eager to back Liverpool at odds of 9/4 to end their title drought.

However, whether they can overcome the disappointment of blowing a seven-point lead over City last term is certainly up for debate.

On their best form the Reds can look unplayable, but their propensity for dropping silly points against still remains.

City’s financial resources to improve an already impressive looking squad makes them worthy favourites and Liverpool could be left to regret not ending their wait for a title last time around.

A team to be feared in Europe

While success on the home front continues to elude them, Liverpool’s Champions League success showed they remain a team to be feared in Europe.

Their comeback against Barcelona in the semi-final was simply magnificent and they went on to efficiently dispose of .

As holders of the trophy the Reds will be the team everyone wants to beat next season, although it would be a brave move to back against them reaching a third successive final.

The Champions League will undoubtedly be a tough competition to defend, but odds of 7/1 to win the trophy for a seventh time will tempt many punters.
