Latest Liverpool news: Reds announce 29-man squad for Evian camp

Liverpool named a 29-man squad for the Evian training camp ahead of the game against Lyon.

The Reds played Napoli in Edinburgh and will now head off to France for their final pre-season game of the campaign.

The club’s release handed Jurgen Klopp a boost, with the confirmation of three stars joining the side.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Alisson have returned from their extended breaks. The three stars were busy with their respective national sides during the summer.

The release adds that Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita have already returned for training, and will feature in Evian.

Some youngsters miss the cut

Ryan Kent is one of the players to have missed the camp as he is carrying an illness. The English winger did not play against Napoli, and three others also were not making the trip to Evian.

Ben Woodburn, Curtis Jones and Nat Phillips have all been sent to the U23s as Klopp trims his side and concentrates on a big test ahead.

Liverpool face Manchester City on Sunday in the Community Shield final and hopefully, we play better than we have since the US tour.

The Reds haven’t won their last four pre-season games, but the return of more first-team players should make the team better.
