Naby Keita to remain with Liverpool during international break

Liverpool star Naby Keita will remain at the club during the upcoming international break.

The Guinea midfielder has had several injuries over the past year but Guinea have decided not to take the Liverpool star for the upcoming games.

The 24-year-old started in our win over MK Dons in the Carabao Cup and wasn’t brought on in the 2-1 triumph over Leicester City.

Guinea coach Didier Six wanted the midfielder to regain his fitness, and claimed the Reds didn’t want Keita to leave for two friendlies (h/t Liverpool Echo

“Considering his physical condition, I would like Naby Keita to rest for these two matches.

“I think Liverpool were reluctant when we selected Naby [Keita]. We have two tough friendly matches, especially against Chile, so I decided to make a change to the squad.”

Six added that he would speak with Jurgen Klopp about Keita possibly watching one of the friendlies.

He also hoped that the Liverpool star would be fit for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which start in November.

A handy boost for Keita

The Guinea midfielder has to work on his fitness, and these two weeks should help him. Liverpool have several tough games after the international break, and Klopp needs as many options as possible.

The Reds have made several changes to their midfield throughout the season, and it will be interesting to see which games Keita gets to start.

We face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup but take on Manchester United in the league right after the international break.
