Liverpool had to dig deep in their win over Leicester City at Anfield.
The Reds continued their 100% winning start to the Premier League season, but needed a last-minute penalty to win the clash.
James Milner dispatched a late penalty which was won by Sadio Mane.
There were wild celebrations from Jurgen Klopp and the players after the final whistle. Ayoze Perez, however, was involved in a scuffle with Andy Robertson, with the others trying to break things up.
Jurgen Klopp was asked about the melee, and claimed that Robbo had pushed the Spanish attacker (h/t Mirror):
“Andy Robertson celebrated on final whistle and pushed [Perez], which he probably didn’t expect, which he was annoyed at.”
Former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers also spoke about the incident as his Leicester side put up a decent display at Anfield:
“I think that, according to the guys, Andy Robertson celebrated and pushed him, which he didn’t expect and he was obviously annoyed by that.
“And that lead to a melee, but it was nothing.”
The Reds had taken the lead via Mane but were pegged back by James Maddison scoring in the 80th
minute. It would have been easy for us to settle for the draw, especially after Mohamed Salah picked up a problem, however, Divock Origi was bright after coming on from the bench.
It was his run that helped Mane win the penalty and showed the kind of mentality we have in the team. Liverpool were a little pumped up after the win, and that could be a reason why Robbo celebrated too hard.
Manchester United host us after the international break, and this will be another chance for us to extend our lead at the top.
