“Maybe one day” – Liverpool star doesn’t rule out playing in different position after comparisons to Beckham

Trent Alexander-Arnold open to playing as a midfielder in the future

Trent Alexander-Arnold has to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s successes during his spell at Anfield.

The right-back is one of the most creative players we have in the team due to his crossing ability.

Trent is great at free-kicks and corners too, and already has one goal and three assists to his name this season.

Jamie Carragher had recently claimed that the Liverpool star could be our Kevin de Bruyne, while Danny Murphy suggested that Trent’s crossing was as good as David Beckham’s (h/t Mirror

).

However, the defender was open to a shift to the midfield (h/t Mirror):

“I’m not fussed where I play. I just want to play football. If the manager decides that he wants to use me as a midfielder, centre-back or striker, that is where I will play.

“The only time I walk off disappointed is if we haven’t won.”

The Englishman even responded to Carra’s comments but was happy being the right-back for now:

“That’s his point of view and maybe one day it will happen.

“But for the time being, the manager has obviously decided I’m a right-back and that is where I will play.”

Can’t shift to the midfield anytime soon

Although the Englishman would provide a lot of creativity to our midfield, seeing him move into that position cannot happen soon.

The 21-year-old is great at right-back, and we have two great full-backs in the team who love to attack.

This allows Fabinho and another midfielder to cover for the marauding full-backs, and replacing Trent in the first-team would be difficult at the moment.

The Englishman has grown leaps and bounds under Klopp, and he has many years of quality football left in him.

Trent added that winning a game was more important than him assisting or scoring goals, and Liverpool

have been doing that a lot under Klopp.
