Ki-Jana Hoever could miss a month of action after U17 World Cup call

The Netherlands have called up Ki-Jana Hoever for the U17 World Cup to be held in Brazil.

Liverpool’s website confirmed that the defender is one of the 21 players called up by the Dutch side. Hoever played in our 2-0 win over MK Dons in the Carabao Cup and scored too.

The youngster faces Senegal, Japan and the United States in the three group stage games.

Should the Dutch make it all the way to the final, Hoever will be unavailable until 17th November.

Hoever to miss some important games

The 17-year-old was impressive against the Dons and would have been in the running for some of our upcoming games.

Hoever might not have started against Manchester United or Manchester City in the Premier League but he would have faced Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

The youngster could have also picked up some minutes against Genk in the Champions League

, however, national duty awaits.

Hoever needs to play regularly to continue his development and it will be interesting to see how he does at the World Cup. Rhian Brewster was one of the stars in the last U17 World Cup and looks set to feature under Jurgen Klopp more this season.
