Liverpool are the latest to be linked with Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria.
The 22-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach star has attracted the attention of Tottenham, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, according to the Express (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Now, Transfer Market Web (h/t Liverpool Echo) adds that Liverpool could swoop for the midfielder in the January window.
Zakaria has been one of the most consistent players for the Bundesliga side and is a regular for the Swiss national team.
The 22-year-old operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play as a centre-back. Zakaria has a ton of talent and the potential to improve further, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming transfer windows.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have returned to fitness in recent weeks and looked good in our win over Genk.
Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner and Jordan Henderson seem to be the first-choice options in the midfield.
However, we could do with another defensive–minded midfielder in the team. Marko Grujic has impressed on loan at Hertha Berlin and could do a decent job if he is brought back next season.
The Monchengladbach star could be a decent cover for Fabinho, and it will be interesting to see if we make a move for him in January.
