Injury boost as Klopp provides positive update on Liverpool star after Bournemouth win

Jurgen Klopp provides update on Dejan Lovren’s injury against Bournemouth

Liverpool were excellent in their away trip to Bournemouth, coming out as 3-0 winners.

Jurgen Klopp mixed the team about again after our 5-2 Merseyside derby win and gave starts to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita.

The attack was completely revamped, with Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri all being rested.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Oxlade-Chamberlain led the line and were great throughout the game. Keita, Salah and the Ox were the scorers at the Vitality, however, there was one concern as Dejan Lovren was taken off before the half-time break.

The Croatian was subbed by Trent Alexander-Arnold and saw Joe Gomez move into the heart of the defence.

The Reds were already down to three senior centre-backs after Joel Matip’s absence, and Klopp spoke about the problem after the game (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):

“Always you don’t know exactly but it looks not too serious, it looks like a little cramp. He felt something, he told us, said he for sure could go to half-time, wanted to have treatment there and carry on, but we said no and stopped it there.”

Other absentees in the team

Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana were also missing from the side, and Klopp claimed the pair had problems but that they weren’t serious. The manager was hopeful that the players would be back for our next clash but wasn’t sure of the status.

The Reds have another big game in midweek with a trip to Salzburg. A point against RB Salzburg will be enough to see us through to the next round of the Champions League, and it will be interesting to see how what kind of team we put out.
