Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Van Dijk is fit to start against Monterrey.
Concerns were raised after Van Dijk missed a training session on Monday, allaying fears of him being injured. Klopp has moved quickly to quash any such rumour.
“Virgil is fine. We have to do different stuff for different recoveries. All the rest are fine,”
With Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren out for the foreseeable future, an injury to Van Dijk would have been catastrophic for us. Georginio Wijnaldum will not feature against Monterrey as he still hasn’t recovered completely from the injury against Watford.
Liverpool face Mexican side Monterrey in the semifinals of the World Cup Cup. Let’s hope the Reds succeed in bringing home the trophy that has eluded us all these years.
Winning a trophy midway through the season would give the team a massive boost of confidence.
Our squad is more than capable of winning this trophy and the fact that Klopp has brought the first-team stars to compete for the title shows how serious we are about this tournament.
