Liverpool have announced the signing of playmaker Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg after he agreed to personal terms and passed a medical at Merseyside on Wednesday (h/t Liverpoolfc.com).
The Japanese ace has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal after Liverpool paid his release clause of £7.25million (h/t Guardian).
Minamino will officially join the club on 1st January and is in line to make his debut against city rivals Everton in the FA Cup tie at Anfield on 5th January.
The youngster has faced off against Liverpool twice this year in the Champions League. Now, Minamino has a chance to help the same team that dumped him out of the competition to once again achieve domestic and European glory.
Minamino has played 199 times for Salzburg, scoring 64 times. He has also won 22 caps for the Japanese national team, scoring 11 times – including the Asia Cup final in February (h/t Liverpoolfc.com
