This is the third year in a row that a Liverpool player has bagged the award. Mohamed Salah had won the award in 2017 and 2018 and finished second this year.
Mane had had a stellar season with Liverpool as the 27-year-old ended the season winning the Premier League golden boot and the UEFA Champions League.
The 27-year-old almost led Senegal to their first continental title in the summer, only to lose to Algeria in the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The player has continued his form into the new season and was instrumental as Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
Mane has scored 15 goals so far this season as Liverpool look to win their first league title in 30 years.
He is also the second Senegalese player to have won the prestigious award, the other being El Hadji Diouf who has also played for Liverpool.
This is Mane’s first crown having finished runner up to Salah the previous two seasons.
Reds fan took to Twitter to congratulate the striker on his success.
