Jurgen Klopp accuses Liverpool stars of not passing to Takumi Minamino

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has accused his players of failing to make use of Takumi Minamino getting into good positions.

It was a frustrating night for the Reds as they slipped to their third loss in four games. Klopp’s attitude will not have improved having watched his players fail to find the Japanese international who made a number of good runs.

“Takumi had a really good game. We could have used him much more often.”

He particularly named young right back Neco Williams for failing to find the Japanese playmaker on more than one occasion.

 “If he’d seen him it would have helped.”

The Japanese international has had a rough start to life on Merseyside. He has failed to score or assist in his six appearances in Red.

He looked lively and made a number of good runs against Chelsea. The playmaker could also have scored had it not been for Kepa Arizzabalaga in the Chelsea goal.

The promising performance could be considered to be a sign of the 25-year-old beginning to adapt to Liverpool’s style. The Reds faithful will hope he can take the next step as Liverpool need just 12 more points to be crowned Premier League champions.

Klopp mentioned that he was glad to see that the performance yesterday was better than the one against Watford, in spite of the similarly negative result.

“I’m not concerned about momentum. It’s football.”

He went on to explain that the team was always aware that this was going to be a tough game. Rather than being poor throughout, the Reds are aware that they made crucial mistakes at decisive moments which swung the game in Chelsea’s favor.

Liverpool next faces Bournemouth at home in the English Premier League on Saturday. A win will take the Reds to within single digits of winning their first league title in 30 years.

The Merseysiders will hope they can get back the winning habit against the Cherries. It will serve well to go into the crucial Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid with momentum.
