Liverpool and Barcelona agree to postpone charity match

The Liverpool FC Foundation and Barcelona have decided to postpone the charity match the sides were due to play on 28-March-2020. This announcement comes due to the coronavirus outbreak that is spreading across the world.

The club made the announcement on their official site confirming the same. Due to the travel restrictions in place, the Catalans will not be able to travel to Liverpool for the fixture.

Liverpool have confirmed that the tickets already purchased can be used for the rescheduled fixtures. The dates for the game will be announced in due course.

The charity fixture is a yearly event where the Reds face off against different opposition from top European teams. All of the proceeds raised from this match goes to the LFC Foundation, which brings together the LFC family to create life-changing opportunities for children and young people.

The Foundation director, Matt Parish thanked the supporters who purchased tickets for the event. He went on to assure them that their tickets will ve valid for the rearranged fixture.

“Please hold on to your ticket and we look forward to seeing you at the game when we can rearrange it.”

Giving back to the community

He went on to thank people for their generosity and continued support of the Foundation while touching upon the huge impact such charity games can have.

“These charitable games make a huge difference to the work we do and help us impact even more people.”

Parish also revealed that an amount of £100,000 will be made available to local charities and community groups. In addition to that,  funds raised will also be used to fund the organization’s partnership with Right To Play. This will benefit vulnerable children both at home and around the world, as well as enabling them to directly support even more children and young people across the Liverpool City Region.
