Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix left impressed by Anfield atmosphere

According to Spanish publication AS (h/t The Liverpool Echo), Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix has was left in awe of Liverpool supporters after experiencing the daunting Anfield atmosphere in the Champions League clash.

It was a trip to remember for Felix as his team came back from two goals down to win the match 3-2 in extra time. The wonderkid played a role in the comeback as he assisted Marcos Llorente for the equalizer.

Alvaro Morata completed the comeback late on to cap off a memorable night for the La Liga giants. It ensured that the Spaniards added to their win from three weeks ago as they ended the tie 4-2 on aggregate in their favour.

Liverpool dominated for vast portions of the game and could have gone through had it not been for Adrian’s error. It was not to be another magical Anfield night for the Reds. However, it will be remembered so by the Portuguese sensation who left the stadium in awe.

Speaking after the game, he admitted that he shouldn’t be saying so but he was left awestruck watching the fans celebrate after Liverpool scored.

“It was incredible”

He admitted to having watched the atmosphere before on television and professed the pride in his team for having won the game at such a daunting stadium.

“I had seen this on television, but seeing it live and being within this great atmosphere…. Hardly anyone wins here and we are so happy.”

The youngster also shared a moment with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after the game. He revealed that their paths crossed after the full-time whistle and he thanked the German only to receive a hug in return.

Liverpool were unbeaten at Anfield since 2014. Klopp has built the legendary stadium into a veritable fortress of sorts after his arrival. It will remain a matter of debate whether Atletico deserved their victory or not. The Reds were dominant throughout regular time and should probably have settled matters in their favour.
