As posted on the club’s official site, Liverpool have decided to close down all the club stores in the UK while also shutting down Anfield tours and club museum for the time being.
The decision has been taken following the coronavirus pandemic spreading across the world. Liverpool have taken this step taking into light the health and safety of all supporters and staff members.
This closure is set to be in effect until April 4t but could change depending on the medical guidance given.
Liverpool admitted that a number of the club’s supporters will be disappointed with the decision. The club are, however, following the government directives and have taken the decisive action to promote social distancing. The online store will still remain functional and cater to the demands of fans.
The Reds have also asked fans to donate food so that it may be handed over to the less fortunate and those in need. An earlier statement had instructed fans to drop off such donations either at Anfield or at club stores. But following the decision to close down these sites, interested donors can do so via text donation.
The club has voluntarily suspended all activities at the club’s Melwood training complex. All players and staff will voluntarily suspend activity at the facility as a temporary measure that will be overturned once the situation is stable.
The players have all been given individual programs to follow as the Reds remain keen to ensure that they are as prepared as possible when the league resumes.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp came out in support of the Premier League’s decision and voiced his opinion that some things are more important than football. He has called upon people to take care of themselves and also the vulnerable section of society.
