Sadio Mane donates £41,000 to help Senegal fight coronavirus

At times like these, any help, no matter how big or small, could prove to make a difference. Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane is known to be a humble person in spite of his success. The 27-year-old has been known to give generously to the community

Liverpool have extended support to the food banks to help them overcome the shortage inflicted due to the suspension of fixtures. A number of Reds stars had chipped in to ensure that the organizations made up for the donations they lost.

According to the BBC Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Mane has now stepped in to support his countrymen. The winger donated £41,000 to FCFA, the organization fighting the pandemic in Senegal. He also chose to include a helpful statement, reminding people to regularly disinfect and clean their hands to curtail the spread of the virus.

The information was revealed by the player’s agent who termed the player’s generosity as a spontaneous action, influenced by the dynamic nature of the situation.

There have been 27 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Senegal. Two of the patients have returned to full health since. Senegalese officials announced on Monday that all flights between the country and European destinations have been cancelled.

They have also decided to ban flights from North African countries such as Tunisia and Algeria.
