According to Sky Sports (h/t Mirror), Liverpool will battle it out with Arsenal for Bundesliga starlet Evan N’Dicka. The 20-year-old defender is seen as a replacement for Dejan Lovren who could be on his way out in the summer.
N’Dicka came through the ranks in his native France before moving to the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018. He has since gone on to establish himself as one of the club’s top players.
He has since gone on to make 61 appearances for the Die Adler and has scored two goals and four assists. Primarily a centre-back he is also capable of doing a job at left-back.
The youngster is also on the radar of La Liga and Seria A clubs with the likes of Valencia, Sevilla, Inter Milan, and AC Milan all keen. According to the report, Liverpool and Arsenal were both monitoring the player’s progress prior to the coronavirus shutdown.
Liverpool are in the market for a defender to replace Lovren who could be on his way out. The Croatian is one of Liverpool’s longest-serving players and has made 184 appearances
.He is currently third choice at best and has failed to convince when called upon. N’Dicks is young and can benefit under the mentorship of the likes of Virgil van Dijk. With Liverpool lacking a backup for Andy Robertson, the Frenchman’s ability to double up as a left-back will also be an added bonus.
A giant at 6’4″, N’Dicka should fit in well alongside Van Dijk and Gomez and could also be developed to present a goalscoring threat during set-pieces.
The Premier League is currently under lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Liverpool could return to action against Arsenal on May 2 at the earliest. With the season set to be extended, the effect it has on the transfer window remains to be seen.
