Former Liverpool chief confident that current owners are building an Anfield dynasty

Ian Ayre backs FSG to build a dynasty at Liverpool

According to the Mirror, former Liverpool CEO Ian Ayre has backed owners Fenway Sports Group to help the Reds build a dynasty under their leadership.

The Reds have come a long way in the ten years under the Americans. From struggling in the relegation zone in 2010 to winning the European Cup and having one hand on the Premier League title, it has been a ride to remember.

Ayre believes the Reds are far from done and has backed his former side to carry their form into next season. Liverpool are close to winning their 19th league title and need just six more points to assure it mathematically.

However, the coronavirus pandemic has suspended football across Europe, throwing the season into limbo.

“Whether they’re rightly allowed to win the league this year, what will be will be. But I’ve no doubt that, if it doesn’t happen this season, it will happen next season.”

Praising the team’s solid foundations, he attributed the Merseysiders to having a young team as a primary reason for their expected success.

He claimed that Liverpool never does things the easy way and that the current side has shown the capability to spring back to their feet even in the face of adversity.

“They’ll either get it sorted and win it this year or they won’t, but, whatever happens, they’ll bounce back.

The man with the plan!

Ayre also praised principal owner John Henry for keeping his word when he took over the club. The American had stated that he wanted to build Liverpool into a team that keeps on winning. (h/t Telegraph

FSG have made a number of blunders both on and off the pitch, but they cannot be accused of not learning from them or doing what they can to help the team succeed.

“He’s a very smart guy, I’ve got huge respect for him and what he says is completely right.

Currently the CEO at newly formed MLS side Nashville SC, Ayre believes that football should take the backseat for the moment, given the coronavirus pandemic.

With football being a spectator sport, he believes playing in front of empty crowds is detrimental. Ayre has urged for the game to resume once it is safe to do so rather than go for half handed measures.
