The Dalglish family released a statement on the club’s official site regarding Sir Kenny Dalglish. They have confirmed that the Liverpool legend has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The revelation comes as a shock considering he had not shown any symptoms. He continues to be asymptomatic. The results came after he was admitted to hospital on Wednesday, April 8 for treatment of an infection that required intravenous antibiotics.
Sir Kenny was in voluntary self-isolation for longer than the advised period together with his family. He urged everyone to follow the relevant government and expert guidance in the days ahead.
He thanked the NHS staff, whose dedication, bravery and sacrifice should be the focus of the nation’s attention at this point in time.
Sir Kenny also hopes his own family’s privacy is respected. He looks forward to returning home soon and will keep everyone posted when required.
One of the club’s finest, he has won 20 major trophies as a player and a manager. Twitter was awash with Liverpool fans, who sent their best wishes to our former number seven. As a tribute to him, Liverpool named the Centenary stand at Anfield as the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand in 2018. (h/t Liverpoolfc.com)

We would like to wish Sir Kenny the very best and hope he recovers well. Our hearts also go out to everyone else suffering from the virus, and their families.
