Florian Goll dismisses talk of Loris Karius to Wolverhampton Wanderers

According to Fanatik via Sports Witness (h/t Birmingham Mail), Florian Goll, the agent of Liverpool star Loris Karius, has put to bed the talk of his client making the move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 26-year-old is set to return to Liverpool after his loan at Turkish side Besiktas was cancelled earlier this week. The decision comes after a fractious few months where the player and the club were involved in a bitter feud over unpaid wages

Given the presence of Alisson Becker, the unanimous first choice at Anfield, Karius’ return is unlikely to do him much good with respect to game time. With his future open for discussion, Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers were touted as a possible destination.

The German has been touted as a replacement for Wolves reserve keeper John Ruddy, who is out of contract in the summer. The Turkish press went as far as to say that a July move to the Molineux was imminent.

However, his agent has now confirmed that the player will return to Merseyside before holding more talks regarding his long-term future.

He admitted that no talks have taken place so far regarding the player’s future. Still just 26, Goll has backed his client to make a great career for himself.

“Let’s see what will happen”

Goll was critical of the Besiktas board for the way they treated the player. He revealed that Karius was willing to help the club during an emergency. However, the Turks did not reciprocate his intentions.

End of the road at Anfield?

According to the report, Karius could have to wait a while before returning to training with the Liverpool squad. Jurgen Klopp could choose to keep Karius away from the senior squad as he is ineligible for the remainder of the season.

The German has seen his stock fall since his horror show in Kyiv in 2018. He has looked a shadow of his old self and does not inspire confidence. Karius can be a good keeper for a mid-table team and moving on from Liverpool will be best for everyone involved.
