Defensive ace rubbishes claims of disharmony between Liverpool’s attacking superstars

Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has shot down rumours that there is disharmony between Mane, Salah, Firmino and Jota

Speaking to Liverpool Echo around the inauguration of his AR26 Charity, Andy Robertson debunked the myth that there is acrimony between the Liverpool front four of Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool added Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Diogo Jota to their front three this summer. Electric displays from the Portuguese forward has led to Liverpool’s traditional front-three being moved around and interchanged on the field this season.

The 23-year-old has featured in 15 matches this season and has already netted 9 times, sparking debates if he should be made a permanent fixture in the Liverpool side at the expense of one of the established front-three attackers.

To add to this, Salah being visibly unhappy when he was subbed off for Mane in the game against Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend added more fuel to the rumours that the two did not enjoy a cordial relationship in the dressing room.

When asked about the potential rift between the Liverpool front-four, Andy Robertson told Liverpool ECHO that people are reading too much into the situation and that there is a good relationship between the attackers.

“The relationship off the pitch is really strong, and on the pitch, the link-up play and everything is always good. But these players are also paid to be selfish and we need them to score goals and take risks in the final third, and we add Jota into that category now. When they are in front of goal, we expect them to shoot and score.”

Robertson explained that the decisions taken on the pitch by the players are natural to their game and that it does not reflect or affect their relationship off it.

The Scottish left-back highlighted the fact that it is their good relationship that has carried the club so far up the success ladder and that it is a pleasure for him to play with such quality players.

While Robertson talks highly of his teammates, it is worth noting that the defender himself is a world-class star. He has been a crucial cog in our backline and it’s been evident over the years.
