A report by Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Liverpool Echo) mentions that Mohamed Salah could be the player to make way if Liverpool formalize their interest in signing Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window.
The Egyptian has already been linked with a move away from Anfield. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two clubs said to be interested in the 28-year-old.
Despite the club not hitting the heights this season, Salah has amassed an amazing tally of goals and assists. He has already netted 21 times and assisted 4 goals in his 31 matches this season.
But Mbappe is a target for Liverpool, and the club could cash in on the former AS Roma man in order to raise funds for Mbappe. The 22-year-old is in cracking for the Ligue 1 champions. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
He has already scored 17 goals and provided 9 assists in his 25 matches for PSG this season. Last season, he hit the 30-goal mark and created 18 goals for his teammates in all competitions. (h/t transfermarkt
)The report states, however, that Liverpool also face competition from Real Madrid for Mbappe. In fact, Los Galacticos are favourites to sign the former AS Monaco striker if he leaves PSG in the summer.
Mbappe would probably not come for cheap. Selling Salah in order to raise funds for him might not sit well with the fans, who have seen the Egyptian King lead the club to multiple trophies in the past couple of years.
But all good things come to an end. If the club can manage to sign Mbappe, even if it meant losing Salah, it would probably a good move, especially in the long-term.
