Liverpool-linked Paulo Dybala could be allowed to leave Juventus

Liverpool have received a boost in their efforts to sign Paulo Dybala as contract talks with Juventus are still not progressing well. (h/t Mirror)

The Argentine’s future has been thrown in the air after Fabio Paratici’s admission regarding Dybala’s contract situation.

Dybala’s contract runs out in 2022 which means he is in the final 18 months of his deal. A sale will have to be sanctioned next season if Juve want to get some decent cash for the player. While there has been speculation about him

in the past, things were resolved and an extension was agreed upon.

However, the situation is a bit different this time. Dybala has suffered from injuries and hasn’t looked like a good fit under Andrea Pirlo. He has failed to reach the same heights as his past seasons with just 4 goal contributions this season. Juventus director Fabio Paratici confirmed that contract negotiations are only just beginning.

“Paulo still has a few problems – it’s like he’s on a swing. Some days he’s better and others he’s worse. He seemed okay [last week], then he felt some pain again. We have spoken [about this contract], we have been speaking and will continue to speak in the next few days and months.”

The slow contract talks could suggest that Juve no longer view him as a vital part of the squad. There are also losses incurred from COVID that saw Juve post a £62m deficit. That could also be a reason for not renewing Dybala’s deal.

It would surely interest potential suitors such as Liverpool who are keeping tabs on the situation. Quite how this unravels is anyone’s guess but the Reds could well pounce on him if the contract talks go south.
