Liverpool’s stance on Philippe Coutinho emerges amid return speculations

Transfer News: Liverpool uninterested in re-signing Philippe Coutinho

According to transfer news from the Mirror, Liverpool have no interest in bringing Philippe Coutinho back from Barcelona amid speculations.

Coutinho departed Liverpool for Barcelona in the January transfer window of 2018, for a whopping sum of £142m. However, things have failed to work out for the Brazilian at Camp Nou and spectacularly at that.

With the Catalan giants in financial turmoil, they are looking to trim their squad and wage bill and are desperately trying to offload Coutinho from their books in the ongoing transfer window.

AC Milan have been linked with a move for the Brazilian playmaker, while links to Liverpool have also resurfaced, as soon as it became clear that things have not been working out for him at Barcelona. (h/t Mirror)

Jurgen Klopp has spoken about Coutinho’s potential comeback in the past, and had played it down.

“Phil was our boy for a long time. We respect him a lot and wish him all the best. That’s how football should be. That’s the most important thing the club showed at that moment.”

And, it seems that there is no change on that stance from Liverpool. Indeed, as per the aforementioned report, the Reds have no intention, whatsoever, to bring back the Brazilian international to Anfield in the ongoing transfer window.

Coutinho enjoyed a great time with Liverpool and remains a beloved figure among the fans. However, the team has moved on from him and it makes no sense for the Reds to re-sign the Brazilian at a time when Klopp & co. are looking to move forward.
