Highly-rated Liverpool teenager set to join rivals Manchester United

Liverpool ace Ethan Ennis has completed a move to Manchester United

Liverpool, who are currently on a pre-season tour in Austria, have lost one of the finest youngsters in their academy in Ethan Ennis. 

The 16-year-old is set to join Premier League rivals Manchester United despite being offered a scholarship offer by the Reds this summer. Ennis joined the Liverpool U-18’s setup at Kirkby last season while he also scored 3 goals in the club’s run to the FA Youth Cup final.

However, Ennis, who has been targeted by both Chelsea and United over the summer, was adamant about moving. Initially, it felt like the starlet would go on to join Chelsea when one of Ennis’ social media pages posted a picture of the youngster visiting the Cobham academy. 

However, Ennis went on to join Manchester United earlier this week, as he confirmed it by posting a picture on his official Instagram handle. 

“I am delighted to announce that I have signed for @manchesterunited 📝. Grateful for this opportunity, can’t wait to get started 🔴”

Since Ennis is only 16, Liverpool will now focus on earning a development fee for the player, which the Reds are entitled to since the youngster is joining an English club.

If an agreement cannot be reached between Manchester United and Liverpool, a tribunal will then rule on a fee. While there is no certainty on how much Liverpool could earn as a development fee, the Reds did receive £4million when youngster Jerome Sinclair left the club to join Watford in 2016.

While Ennis has joined United, Liverpool have done a great job in tying down some of the other youngsters in the academy to new deals.
