Spanish outlet Marca (h/t Daily Star) has revealed a new name in Liverpool’s transfer list. According to the outlet, Bournemouth’s Arnaut Danjuma is an option considered by the Reds. However, Villarreal are in the mix too. Danjuma has a £25million price tag. The 24-year-old could be an added weapon in Jurgen Klopp’s attack.
Danjuma is a product of PSV Eindhoven’s academy. Bournemouth signed him in 2019.
The player failed to make a mark as he scored no goals in 14 EPL appearances. Subsequently, Bournemouth were relegated to the Championship.
However, the player started to show his true potential in the second tier. In 33 Championship appearances, Danjuma racked up 17 goals and 7 assists. The Dutchman was crowned as the supporters’ Player of the Year for the 2020/21 season.
He even scored the crucial goal in Bournemouth’s 1-0 win over Brentford in the play-offs. However, the club failed to secure the promotion to the Premier League. He has made 2 appearances for the Netherlands.
Liverpool’s attacking power is stacked. The Reds have the likes of Mane, Salah, Firmino, Jota, Minamino and Divock Origi.
However, the attack misfired last season. Both Mane and Salah will be out for a while in January due to the Africa Cup of Nations. Liverpool’s squad depth would be vital.
Divock Origi only made two Premier League appearances last season. The Athletic has reported that the club could consider letting Origi go if an offer worth £15m-£20m arrives. The Belgian is out of contract next year.
Hence, the arrival of Arnaut Danjuma could make sense. Now, it’s a matter of Liverpool and Bournemouth negotiating.
