Liverpool extend 27-year-old star’s contract, more to follow

Fabinho signs new contract as Liverpool now ready Salah and Van Dijk deals

Liverpool via Twitter have announced that Fabinho has signed a new long-term deal with the club. The Brazilian joined Liverpool in 2018. As per the official statement, Fabinho has been one of the influential players in the Liverpool side that won the Champions League and the Premier League over two seasons.

The 27-year-old Brazilian shared his excitement stating that the conversations were positive from the get-go

“Since the beginning of the conversation, I was really positive about it because it’s what I wanted”

The club have already secured the extension for the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho and Adrian. However, Liverpool Echo suggests more new contracts are ahead. Fresh deals are going to be proposed for Van Dijk and Salah. Both the players will be offered “bumper” new contracts.

However, the report adds that Michael Edwards is preparing to break a Liverpool record. Mo Salah’s new contract will become the club’s highest-paid player in history. Previously, Suarez held the record.

What does the new contract for Fabinho and others mean for Liverpool

Out of the three, Fabinho’s has extended so far. The Brazilian, as mentioned above, was vital for Liverpool during their glory period. However, one might argue he was even more vital last season. Following a barrage of injuries to the centre-backs, Fabinho calmly shifted to the position. He played an important role in making sure that the club secured Champions League football.

Liverpool set to tie down Mo Salah and van Dijk

Salah’s impact at Liverpool is unquestionable. The forward has never struggled for goals during his time with Liverpool. Even when the likes of Mane and Firmino faded, Salah managed to find the back of the net.

The case of Van Dijk is similar. The player’s absence caused many problems last season. However, Van Dijk has returned to the squad. An extension could certainly benefit all parties.
