Liverpool tipped to make one big signing before the transfer deadline
Danny Murphy via talkSport (h/t METRO) has suggested Liverpool are to make one big move before the transfer window closes.
During his piece, the ex-Liverpool star suggested that his former club could do with addition upfront. He added that Jurgen Klopp could ideally want a player who could walk into the starting eleven.
“There is still a chance Liverpool will make one big one. I think so. An attacking one. In the attacking third. I personally wouldn’t sign anybody if I was Jurgen Klopp unless I thought they could go into the XI.”
According to Murphy, Liverpool should look to bring in a player that could replace either Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane.
‘If you can get one that can play instead of Firmino or instead of Mane then sign him. But there aren’t many about.’
Should Liverpool replace Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane?
Roberto Firmino has not been at his best for the past two seasons. The Brazilian has struggled for output in recent times. However, Firmino still plays the important role of dropping back and bringing Mohamed Salah and Mane into play.
Mane did not his best season last year. However, in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com, the player suggested that he is ready for the new season.
The club could sign a Plan B to Firmino. If Mane’s old form does not return, Diogo Jota can slide into the position. Klopp has even tried working Jota, Salah and Mane together.
