Journalist Paul Gorst via the Blood Red Club members podcast (h/t Liverpool Echo) suggested that Liverpool are interested in Adama Traore. The report suggests that Traore is unlikely to extend his stay at the West Midlands club. The Spaniard has two years left on his current deal.
The journalist added that Liverpool have a good relationship with Wolves. Clubs have traded Diogo Jota and Ki-Jana Hoever to each other. Hence, negotiations are expected to be smooth between the clubs should the Reds press ahead with their interest in Traore.
“Liverpool and Wolves seem to be a good partnership. Ki-Jana Hoever helped keep that relationship on good terms, too, so if there was to be movement from Liverpool, Wolves are a team they can speak to.”
Adama Traore has terrorised the Premier League ever since joining Wolves. Defenders have found it difficult to cope up with his fast feet. The Spaniard’s physicality is an added advantage to his pace. However, he has struggled with goals. So far, in 140 Premier League appearances, Traore has managed 7 goals and 16 assists.
Jurgen Klopp has not been shy of his appreciation for Traore. In an interview, the German suggested that the player is a huge talent. He labeled him as “unplayable” –
“He is a big, big talent. “Traore now, at the moment I would say he is, pretty much, unplayable. I’ve said it now a couple of times and it is still true.”
Traore could be a brilliant signing for Liverpool. The player can provide backup to Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah. In addition, he can bring a whole new dynamic by starting with them. Traore can hold the ball while progressing up the pitch. Thus, unburdening that load on Salah and Mane, who can do the goalscoring.
Another added advantage could be the fact that Traore’s stock is down after a poor season. The Reds could sort a favourable deal for the player. Hence, despite his poor output Liverpool should consider signing Adama Traore.
