Jurgen Klopp hints at the availability of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez
Ahead of the new season, Jurgen Klopp has talked about the availability of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez. The manager suggests that the duo are fit to start the PL opener. Speaking to the media, Klopp said that both are in contention to start. However, they would not rush the process.
“I think so, it looks like [they are available to start],” Klopp said.
“Both look really good. An intense season is coming up. We will see how we decide that.
“But how it is with these kind of things, we have nothing to rush in this department.
Liverpool are set to travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich on 14th August.
Should VVD and Gomez start against Norwich City?
Van Dijk missed the major chunk of last season. The centre-back suffered a ligament injury after a nasty tackle from Jordan Pickford.
Joe Gomez on the other hand suffered a knee injury while training with England. He has been out since November.
The duo actively participated in the club’s preseason. Both have also accumulated some minutes in the pre-season games. However, it won’t be a surprise if either of them does not start. It could be the case of easing them into the Premier League intensity.
