Done Deal: Liverpool beat several PL clubs to sign Newcastle starlet

Transfer News: Liverpool have completed the signing of Bobby Clark from Newcastle United

The official Newcastle United club website has announced that Liverpool have completed the signing of Bobby Clark.

The highly-rated Englishman was believed to be on the radar of several clubs. Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Man United, and Chelsea were all said to hold an interest.

However, the Reds have beaten them to the highly-rated 16-year-old’s signature. Bobby is the son of former Newcastle player, Lee Clark, and has represented England at the U16 level.

Bobby Clark (C) has left Newcastle United to join Liverpool.

The player is set to join the club’s U18 team, currently managed by Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. It is good to see the club bring in a highly-rated starlet after losing Ethan Ennis to Manchester United earlier this summer.

Largely, the focus during the transfer windows on the senior team – and if the club can get multi-million-pound deals across the line for various superstars. While that is important, focusing on the youth team is something that is advised for every top club.

Having players coming up to the senior team not only saves the club money on potential transfer fees but also gives a unique, homely identity to the team and fills the fans of the club with pride.

Over the years, players like Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have gone to embed their names into the club’s history after coming through the youth team. In recent years, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones have made the step up to the first-team squad.

And Clark, the 16-year-old attacking midfielder, would be hoping to reach those heights himself one day. But for now, his focus should be on making the climb to the reserve squad, which is the next step to getting to Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad.
