Klopp provides injury update on 29-year-old Liverpool star after Chelsea clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Roberto Firmino

According to an interview done by Jurgen Klopp after the match against Chelsea (h/t Liverpool Echo), Roberto Firmino could be in for a very short period of time on the sidelines.

The Brazilian started his first game of the season against Chelsea yesterday and was impressive in the first 40 minutes of the game. However, the player was substituted before half-time as he looked uneasy, and it felt like he had a niggling injury.

Jurgen Klopp provided an update on the fitness of the player in the press conference later.

Firmino was substituted after just 42 minutes yesterday against Chelsea

He said (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“Bobby felt his hamstring, came over and told us, and we had to prepare the change. Bobby is nobody who raises the hand when he doesn’t feel anything”.

Klopp went on to explain it did not look ‘serious‘ but can only give a definitive answer after a scan.

“It doesn’t look too serious but you never know before you have a scan, and we will know tomorrow.”

Given that the international break is around the corner, it does not seem like the 29-year-old will miss out on a lot of games, provided the injury is not serious. Regardless, Jurgen Klopp still possesses the likes of Diogo Jota and Divock Origi in his ranks, with the former coming on for Firmino against Chelsea.

The Reds went on to draw the game against the Blues yesterday after going a goal down after just 22 minutes. It was the first goal the Reds conceded in the Premier League this season, however, they levelled things up as Mo Salah slotted home from a penalty, racking up his 2nd goal of the season.

Klopp will be hoping to have Firmino back as soon as possible as the Reds look to mount a title challenge again this year.
