Liverpool star Divock Origi could still seal exit from Anfield

According to Fotospor (h/t Liverpool Echo), Divock Origi has been targeted by Turkish side Fenerbahce this summer.

Although the deadline day in a lot of countries was over on the 31st of August, Turkey’s deadline day is the 8th of September, courtesy of which they are trying to complete a move for the Belgian.

However, this could prove to be a blow for the Reds as they could fall short in the attacking options. Apart from Origi, the Anfield outfit possess the likes of Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Takumi Minamino, with the latter being sent out on loan to Southampton last season to gain more experience.

Thus, the club only have 4 Premier League seasoned attackers without the Belgian and given that Mo Salah and Mane can be unavailable for selection for the complete month of January for AFCON, it could cause a big problem for Klopp & co.

The Reds have already lost Xherdan Shaqiri to Lyon this summer and might not want to lose another forward without signing a replacement.

Although the Merseyside club were linked with the likes of Federico Chiesa, Dusan Vlahovic, Jeremy Doku, and several other forwards over the course of the summer, none of those deals materialized and the Reds ended the window without an addition in the frontline.

While they have started the season on a bright note by gaining 7 points out of three games, they would want to maintain a certain level of consistency, something that is needed to win the biggest titles.

However, it has been said that Origi’s talks with Fenerbahce are ‘progressing very quickly & positively’, according to Fotospor (h/t Liverpool Echo). Thus, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will actually sanction a transfer for the Belgian in the coming days.
