According to transfer news from 90min (h/t Express), Declan Rice has kept open the possibility of a move to Liverpool. The West Ham midfielder is considering his future at the club and a move to Merseyside or Manchester is said to be appealing. Chelsea and both Manchester clubs are also after him.
It was a bit surprising that Liverpool did not get a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutchman was an integral part of the side with his energetic displays but there was probably the feeling that there were enough midfielders to cover in his place. However, the fact is that Liverpool did have a certain Declan Rice on their radar.
The 22-year-old Englishman has developed into a fine player for both club and country in the last few seasons. Hence, West Ham decided to slap an enormous £100million price tag on him which was more than enough to deter clubs like Liverpool. The Reds eventually did not sign a new midfielder.
However, they still retain an interest in the player due to recent developments. Rice is said to be considering his stay at West Ham and could be open to moving to Merseyside, Manchester or even some other London club. That puts Liverpool, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs on the radar. There is further encouragement for the Reds as he is said to have turned down new deals from the club previously.
This comes as a transfer boost for Liverpool. However, it’s not known whether West Ham might reduce the asking price. Regardless, Rice has a bright future ahead of him and Liverpool would be wise to return for his services.
