Liverpool consider £30m January move for Real Madrid star after Klopp approval

Transfer News: Liverpool plotting a January move for Marco Asensio

According to Daily Star, Liverpool are plotting a deal for Marco Asensio from Real Madrid as their next big transfer. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp also has approved the decision to sign the Spaniard next January.

After failing to get any major signings this summer apart from Ibrahim Konate, the Reds have seemingly stepped up their interest in signing a playmaker in the coming January transfer window and are considering a £30 million

move for Marco Asensio. Jurgen Klopp is also understood to have given his approval for signing the Real Madrid forward.
Marco Asensio is struggling to get into first team under Carlo Ancelotti.

Reports from Spanish outlet Todofichajes (h/t Daily Star) suggested that Asensio does not fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans. And the club is willing to hear offers for the player for a fee of around €35million. Gareth Bale has sprung back to life at Santiago Bernabeu under the new manager Ancelotti with whom the player has had a good relationship.

Marco Asensio, despite appearing 35 times last campaign, has only been used as a substitute for the opening three-game in La Liga this season. Real Madrid have placed their trust on players like Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who do form a formidable attacking trio upfront for the Los Blancos.

Liverpool should be looking for reinforcements after Gini Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri left the club this summer for PSG & Lyon. They are also being handed blows in form of injuries to their key player. Roberto Firmino, Harvey Elliot & James Milner are the notable key players that can miss the upcoming clash against Leeds United on Sunday.

Liverpool are plotting to move for Asensio in the January transfer window.

It remains to be seen what the Spaniard’s decision would be if Liverpool come calling in January. He could be an understudy to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane or could challenge for regular starts straightaway if signed.
