Report: Liverpool expecting to land £17.1m bonus from Philippe Coutinho deal in the near future

Liverpool are expected to land the bonuses from Barcelona as a part of transfer agreement for Philippe Coutinho

According to Daily Star, Liverpool are expected to be paid £17.1million in add-ons from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian attacking midfielder was a key figure at Anfield before making a switch to Camp Nou back in 2018 for a fee that could rise to £121.5

million.

As a part of the transfer agreement for Coutino’s move to Barca in 2018, Liverpool could soon be landing an additional £17.1 million in bonuses and add-ons as the Brazilian is close to reaching 100 appearances for Barcelona. The attacking midfielder has appeared 90 times for the Spanish giants and closing in on the 100th appearance, which will trigger the aforementioned clause.

Philippe Coutinho made a switch to Barcelona from Liverpool in January 2018 for a big fee.

Coutinho, in his debut season at Barca, scored 7 goals and provided 6 assists in just 18 league appearances. However, the Brazilian could not really burst into life Camp Nou the following season, only managing to score 11 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions. He was then sent out on loan at Bayern Munich, where he had a mixed time before his return to Camp Nou.

The Brazilian won the treble with the German club and also scored two goals against his parent club Barcelona in an 8-2 hammering in the 2019/2020 Champions League season. During his time on loan at Bayern, the player managed to score 11

goals and provided 9 assists in 38 games before heading back to Barca, after Bayern refused to sign the player on a permanent deal.

Back at Barcelona, the player again had a tough time and his season was cut short by a major knee injury, leading to a reduction in game time at Barca. However, the player is now fit this season and could to make his 100th appearance for the club in the future.

Coutinho has struggled to find his form at Barcelona.

Barcelona are without Lionel Messi, who parted ways with the club this summer after a move to PSG. Perhaps, this might be the season where Coutinho can establish himself at the club. He is also the only recognized natural number 10 at the club after Antione Greizmann made his way back to Atletico Madrid.
