“Baffled by it”- Man United legend urges Liverpool to make surprise move for 26-year-old PL winger

Liverpool urged to re-sign current Manchester City star Raheem Sterling

According to an interview given to ‘Vibe with Five’ (h/t Liverpool Echo), Rio Ferdinand has urged Liverpool to sign the Manchester City winger, Raheem Sterling, once again.

The former Liverpool player has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad. He’s been linked

with a move away from Man City. Raheem Sterling initially made his name at Anfield as a youngster. He then went on to sign for the Citizens in a deal worth £49m.

The England winger has made only one full appearance for City in this campaign. His fellow teammates Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte are also touted to leave the club in the next transfer window.

The former Man United defender commented

on the 26-year-old winger’s ability as a goalscorer.

“This guy was the go-to guy when they needed a goal for so many years. All of a sudden, he’s in the wilderness. I’m just baffled by it; I don’t understand it.”

The ex- England professional spoke about the forward’s time with the club. He also suggests that many clubs would be head over heels to sign the player should such an opportunity arise.

“There must be clubs sitting there going, ‘boy, let me see how this situation pans out because I will take Sterling all day. If I’m Liverpool, I’m buying Sterling tomorrow.”

Sterling has already made his name at Anfield in the PL. He has enjoyed a playing career at Etihad that has seen him win a lot of trophies. The English winger enjoyed a great UEFA Euro 2020 with England as they reached the final of the tournament.

The Reds have currently got a decent attacking trio with some of the best wingers in the Premier League, both of whom have achieved great milestones with the club.

It would be difficult to displace them from this team due to their importance and goal threat. This could lead to less game time for any new arrival to the club in that position and someone of Sterling’s calibre wouldn’t want to settle for that.
