Transfer News: Liverpool monitoring 24-year-old Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma
According to Voetbal International (h/t Independent), Liverpool are ‘closely watching’ 24-year-old Villarreal winger, Arnaut Danjuma.
Danjuma played for Bournemouth in the Championship before making the switch to Villareal in a deal worth £21.3 million this summer. The winger scored 17 goals in 52 appearances for the Cherries in all competitions. He was also named in the EFL Championship team of last season.
The Dutch winger has been impressive in his 5 appearances for Villareal so far. It is believed that the 24-year-old forward could be a great replacement for Sadio Mane in the future. Liverpool have got some of the best forwards in the land with Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.
Despite their goal-scoring record, the Reds have to play face a hectic schedule as they compete in several domestic and European competitions throughout the season. This puts a lot of pressure on their attacking trio. Danjuma’s addition could certainly help Jurgen Klopp rotate his players and add better depth to his squad.
The 24-year-old winger’s experience in the Championship could help him if he were to make the switch to Anfield. The addition of another talented winger will also create healthier competition in that space amongst the current group of players.
Mane and Salah could be unavailable for a certain period of time during the African Cup of Nations. This could greatly hamper Liverpool’s attacking threat and he would love to have some backup options to negate this worry.

The winger has just made his move to Villareal and thus the Spanish club may not want to let go of him so soon. That being said, the Reds could certainly use a long-term backup option in that position. But should Arnaut Danjuma make the switch to Liverpool, the Reds faithful will not mind having another quality winger in the mix who can man the flanks for several years to come.
