Transfer News: Liverpool interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen forward Moussa Diaby

According to Calcio Mercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have shown interest in signing 22-year-old winger Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen.

The French winger made the switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Leverkusen in 2019. Since then he has scored 21 goals in 90 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool have created a fearsome attacking trio in the last few seasons. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have terrorized defenders down the wings in their time at Anfield. These two forwards have also played an instrumental part in the Reds attacking threat over the years.

They have cemented their place as some of the best attackers under Jurgen Klopp. Despite these accolades, Sadio Mane’s form has witnessed a bit of inconsistency in the last couple of seasons. The Merseyside team’s hectic schedule also puts a lot of stress on the Senegalese and Egyptian winger throughout the campaign.

The addition of another winger like Moussa Diaby could be a potential boost to Jurgen Klopp and his side. It would let the manager rotate his attacking options to preserve the fitness of some of his key players. The 22-year-old winger could also be a great investment in the long-term future of the club.

It could be a great boost for his career should the French winger make the switch to Anfield. That being said, he would have to fight hard to secure a place in this Liverpool side. He could learn from more experienced players around him and eventually get a chance to compete at a higher level.
