Transfer News: Real Madrid targeting Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold

According to the Spanish news outlet Fichajes (h/t Liverpool Echo), Real Madrid have shown interest in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold in the upcoming transfer windows. The Spanish club have included the Liverpool right-back as a transfer target for the future.

The Los Blancos lack options at the right-back spot with only Dani Carvajal as an option in the first team. Nacho and Lucas Vazquez can also play as right-backs but they are not necessarily a natural option.

The Madrid based club could use some options in that position and Alexander-Arnold could be a great choice. However, the Liverpool player is in a great place for his club and country at the moment and is unlikely to move.

The England right-back was also one of the many Reds players who extended their contracts recently. With life seemingly happy at Anfield, the 23-year-old has renewed his current deal which would keep him at the club until 2025.

Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool administration greatly count on Alexander-Arnold and could not even let Madrid try. The Merseyside club also have issues of their own with the right-back position.

Neco Williams is the only other natural right-back but he is yet to be fully integrated into the first team. Joe Gomez

and James Milner can play as makeshift right-backs but they are centre-back and central midfielder by nature respectively.

The fullback is priced at €75 million (£64m) by his current club and Florentino Perez could match that value. However, it is very unlikely that both Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold would entertain an offer from Real Madrid.

Perez, Real Madrid president, is known to be very stubborn which is evident from his offers for Kylian Mbappe

. A ridiculous transfer fee could give him a hand but it remains to be seen if they lure a local Scouser away from his boyhood club.
